Why UX
To me, it’s all about shaping technology in a way that moves us closer to living the life we want. We spend so much time interacting with all things digital and I believe these moments can have a positive effect on our individual lives and on our planet. It’s cheesy, but true.
As a UX designer, I help businesses and products grow by creating solutions that are simple, inspire action and leave users feeling better than before - online and IRL.
My Journey into UX
Like most UXers, I didn’t grow up knowing that it’s what I wanted to do or even that it existed. However, most of the careers I was interested in (like becoming a teacher or detective) had some common themes:
a desire to fix things,
the pursuit of making things better for others and
creative, explorative methods
I’ve tried on a few different hats in my career from tech support to marketing to web development while bringing these same guiding principles to my work. But like Goldilocks, nothing felt quite right until I focused in on UX.
After several years officially UXing, I can’t imagine doing anything else. I love adding to my skills and practicing new ideas whether that’s attending a workshop, listening to design podcasts, taking online courses or building things just because.
If you’re interested in some ideas, send me a quick note. I’m happy to take a look.
